Fleet Tracking
Vehicle fleet tracking devices provide you additional benefits to the standard tracking option. This system is designed for larger fleets, thus you have additional features for specific vehicles and industry sectors.
Businesses working in the courier or haulage industry need proof of delivery, dispatch, and other benefits. The fleet vehicle tracking system can provide all of this and more into one application. You will benefit from reports about progress, performance, and information about the drivers. Overall the vehicle fleet tracking solution helps in management of the business. A few of the systems available will even provide customisation options to ensure the best features are there for you.
Driver behaviour is something you want to know about. Drivers can be idling excessively, revving the engine, or otherwise misusing the fuel. You may be suffering from high maintenance and fuels costs as a result of driver behaviour or HGV’s. The fleet system will link with a Canbus system to help you track the vehicle usage. Data about the revving engine, miles of gas used per gallon, etc. will all be provided to you. Heavy braking, cornering, impacts from speed bumps or curbs, and acceleration can be monitored. Your new system will ensure the vehicles are driven correctly to save you money.
Part of the fleet vehicle tracking is the driver training option. The training software will encourage your drivers to improve their performance. There is a “traffic light” system as part of the training programme. A green light will tell the driver they are highly efficient. Amber states improvement is needed, and red alerts the fleet manager. Red will indicate the driver is not efficient or smooth at all. They may require more training or the driver may need to be let go. The system ensures low maintenance and fuel costs by improving driver behaviour.
The system also includes temperature readouts, SOS buttons, and Driver ID. These additional features provide better control and reporting to your management. The Driver ID tells you who is behind the wheel and about their behaviour. It also limits access to those who should not have a company vehicle. The electronic key or radio frequency tag is used to record the driver. The SOS button or panic button is used when drivers are in trouble. It alerts the depot if the driver is in an accident or being hijacked. Lastly the temperature sensors keep refrigerator trucks at the right temperature as the driver is alerted if there is a fluctuation. The alerts are normally sent via SMS, email or through the application to help management and the drivers react more quickly during a delivery or on company business.
Sensors as part of the vehicle fleet tracking also include a log about when the doors are opened or closed. There is a PTO or Power Take Off switch also that reports when a device like a vehicle, crane, lift, etc is turned on. Certain vehicle fleets will benefit from the features described above, more so than other fleet companies.
