Vehicle Tracking is becoming a popular tool for Fleet Managers as they are more aware that the need for knowing where their drivers are is of great imporatnce when it comes to cutting costs in any business.
Drivers that deviate from the route set, cost more money in fuel consumption and often take longer to arrive on site and therefore may not complete the job in the specified time.
Drivers also at times can take unauthorised stops and breaks and idle in their vehciles for long periods of time, also costing the company money through loss of business, increased fuel costs and consumption.
Data produced from tracking systems can be used to encourage drivers to drive in a more effiicient manner and improve driver behaviour such as speeding and harsh braking which all attributes to wear and tear on a vehcicle and most importantly is not within certain Health and Saftey regulations.
It is becoming more and more important that companies are responsible for their drivers and ensure they are taking their required breaks and adhering to det driving hours so although trackign systems work in the favor of fleet managers, they also protect the driver to a certain extent.
